Collie Rescue of Indiana

Frannie is a 2 yr old female smooth coated collie. If you havent had a smoothie before or think you are going to get a collie with out coat maintaince dont read any further this is NOT your dog. Frannie, like any other smoothie I have encountered in 40 plus yrs of collies, is a stubborn gal. Bull headed and pushy she needs a strong person that is in charge. Frannie will need someone with some canine psychology experience as most of her behavior is from her being insecure and is misread as agression. Since she has come back to rescue she has improved 90%. Obviously there will need to be discussion and commitment for her forever home. She really is a very good girl and very managable. She has been around cats and has never ever hurt one but will chase endlessly I am told. If they are outdoors she ignores them. I suspect her strong herding instinct is factoring in here and with all her other protective behaviors. Factor that with her obviously not so pleasant past and you have a girl that doesnt know what is expected of her. Consistant behavior training will fix this. She is almost back to where she was a few months ago and has actually improved but needs an owner that is 100% consistant. No trying differnet things that leave her confused. Sigh. She is a good dog.
